If you’ve watched the highly connective midfielder this past NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer season, it’s clear that you can always count on Cooper Flax. One of the main things that I admire about the Wake Forest style of play is that whenever a player is on the ball, he always tends to have an option. Nobody is really ever isolated, which leads to their smooth possession style. Often times, Flax is that option for his teammates as he mindfully roams around the field — looking to connect, combine, and build. His spatial awareness and intuition creates a seemingly effortless flow to his movements as he reads where to be, and when to show up. Not to mention, the New York City FC Academy product also has elite technical ability between his first touch, overall ball control, and the weight of his passing. Cooper consistently puts on a clinic for what ‘pass and move’ truly means. Always available. Always involved.
